The stablemates clashed at Punchestown and Saldier came out on top.
All eyes were on the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown, with trainer Willie Mullins going after an unbelievable tenth victory in the race.
His pair of contenders have been the subject of plenty of attention in the 2020 Champion Hurdle market already, with top 2m novice Klassical Dream the ante-post favourite heading into this afternoon’s clash.
However, it was stablemate Saldier who came out on top. The former Grade 1 juvenile winner, who was last seen falling at Naas this time last year, came back from the long break in some style to win with Klassical Dream back in third.
Saldier has since shortened from 14/1 into as short as 4/1 in places for the Champion Hurdle at next year’s Cheltenham Festival. The best price currently on offer is 8/1.
Meanwhile Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Klassical Dream has drifted out from 3/1 favourite to a best price of 7/1.
