The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the marquee race of the Cheltenham Festival, and the highlight of many racing fans’ calendars.
Run over 3m 2f and 70y, the Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt race, and is arguably the most prestigious race of the entire Cheltenham Festival.
Previous winners of the Cheltenham Gold Cup include: Al Boum Photo in 2019, who set off as a 12/1 shot for Willie Mullins, helping the Irishman secure the Top Trainer award at the end of the festival.
The seven-year-old was ridden by Paul Townend – winning by two-and-a-half lengths.
Over the last decade, only three favourites have won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, most recently Don Cossack in 2016, who was as short as 9/4.
The biggest-price winner in the last decade was Lord Windermere in 2014, who was a massive 20/1 before Davy Russell guided the eight-year-old home by a head.
Since 2010, the only trainer to have won multiple Cheltenham Gold Cups is Nicky Henderson: with Bobs Worth in 2013 and Long Run in 2011.
