The Ballymore Novices' Hurdle is the opening race of day two of the Cheltenham Festival.
Run over 2m 5f, the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race open to horses aged four years or older, and is one of the most eagerly anticipated races of the Festival.
Previous winners of the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle include: City Island, who won by two lengths in 2019 for Martin Brassil – his only win of the Festival.
The six-year-old was ridden by Mark Walsh, who finished the Cheltenham Festival with two wins.
Over the last 10 years, only three favourites have won the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle - most recently Samcro in 2018, who went off at 8/11.
The biggest-price winner over this period was Willoughby Head in 2017, who won by a head for Ben Pauling despite being a 14/1 outsider.
The only trainer to have won multiple Ballymore Novices' Hurdles over the past decade is Willie Mullins, who oversaw winners in 2014 and 2016.
