The Stayers’ Hurdle is the marquee race of the third day of the Cheltenham Festival.
Run over 2m 7f and 213y, the Stayers’ Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt race which is open to horses aged four years or older, and a huge feather in the cap of all winning Cheltenham trainers.
Previous winners of the Stayers’ Hurdle include: Paisley Park, who set off as the 11/8 favourite in 2019 to romp home for Emma Lavelle.
Over the last decade, five of the 10 favourites have gone on to win the Stayers’ Hurdle, including Thistlecrack in 2016, who went off at evens.
Big Buck’s won the Stayers’ Hurdle for four consecutive years between 2009 and 2012, though Paul Nicholl’s has not won the race with any horse since.
Since 2010, the biggest-price winner of the Stayers’ Hurdle was Cole Harden, who set off as a 14/1 outsider.
