It’s always one of the biggest talking points ahead of the meet…
Cheltenham Festival is now literally just around the corner, and one of, if not the, most important factors in the run-up to the four day extravaganza is the ground.
Will it be soft? Will it be good to soft? Will it be heavy? Will it be good? Will it be any other?
Well, we’ve taken a look at the market, so you don’t have to.
The bookmakers’ current favourite is soft at 4/6, which is common throughout the jumps season when the weather is a bit wetter.
Currently chiming in as the second favourite, good to soft is the next most likely at 2/1, with the official description being mostly good ground but which is also holding a decent amount of water.
Heavy is the third favourite to be the official going on day one at 4/1, rounding off the only realistic types of ground with a chance.
That’s because the good ground is a whopping 50/1 to be the official going, despite being known as the most common type of ground.
Elsewhere, if you think it's going to be any other form of ground, it's 100/1 for 'any other'.
The market will be settled based on the BHA’s official description for the first race on day one. If the going changes after the first race, it does not count towards your bet
What will the official going be on Day One of Cheltenham Festival?
Soft - 4/6
Good to Soft - 2/1
Heavy - 4/1
Good - 50/1
Any Other - 100/1
