Oddschecker reveals the three most backed horses on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival
Abacadabras – Supreme Novices’ Hurdle
In the opening race of the Festival, the big move of the day has been on Abacadabras. Gordon Elliott’s runner has seen a flurry of bets being placed on him as punters think they have found their first winner. He has only been beaten by Envoi Allen in the Royal Bond this season, and looks to have the best form of all these runners. Davy Russell is taking the ride and plenty are backing the six-year-olds engine up the Cheltenham hill.
Notebook – Arkle Challenge Trophy
Notebook is another Gigginstown representative that is being very well supported. He has landed four wins out of four since going chasing. He has had the beating of Fakir D’oudairies at Leopardstown and is now 7lb better off in the weights with him. This is sure to be run at some gallop and punters will be hoping he can hold off any late challengers. There is a slight worry that he can get worked up before his races and whether he can deal with the Cheltenham atmosphere, however plenty are not phased and think he will win the Arkle on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival.
Carefully Selected – National Hunt Chase
In the final race of the day, punters think they have found a winner in the form of Carefully Selected. Willie Mullins’ eight-year-old looks the class horse of the race and if he can produce some slick jumping he will be hard to beat. He is undefeated so far this season and will be sure to go well in the ground. It could be a lovely end to the day for those who have backed him.
The treble pays a massive 55/1...
