A huge punt on Dame De Compagnie in the Coral Cup earns Sky Bet a narrow lead on the second day.
Sporting John was widely touted to win the Ballymore amongst the trading teams with over 10 points staked across the board, but the JP McManus horse failed to live up to expectations leaving five teams disappointed in the opener.
The first bit of success went Ladbrokes’ way with 2pt e/w on The Big Getaway, who placed at 7/1 in the Ballymore but that wasn’t enough to put them in the green for the day and at -12.2pts across the two days so far they sit second bottom.
The Coral Cup saw the only other wins with Alfa Mix clinging on to a place for bet365 at 14/1, Honest Vic placing for Coral at 33/1 and Dame De Compagnie winning in still for Sky Bet who had 5pt win on him at 9/2.
As a result, it’s Sky Bet who currently top the table closely followed by Coral and bet365 but the lead remains slender and all is to play for over the next two days.
