It was an incredibly slow start to the day given the approach taken by many bookmakers but as expected a bold shout told the story. Absolutely no luck on Thursday for seven of the nine bookmakers, but the Stayers’ Hurdle and Brown Advisory delivered the goods.
Coral’s 2pt each-way ante-post shout of Lisnagar Oscar at 33/1 in the Stayers’ Hurdle proved absolutely outrageous and means they take an (unassailable?) lead into Gold Cup day. Jockey Adam Wedge delivered just that in abundance for those who followed Coral, with 79.2pts profit in the race for the 2017 winners.
The only other fortune in the day belonged to Betfair, who put up 5pt win on Simply The Betts at 10/3 this morning. It’s going to take a considerable effort by Coral’s competitors to catch them on day four…
