Supreme Novices' HurdleSee All Odds

Jonbon, brother to Douvan, was a very impressive winner on hurdling debut at Newbury in the Maiden Hurdle on Friday.

The five-year-old defied a drift to win comfortably having shortened as far as 1/3 before going off the even money favourite.

That prompted a significant move in the Cheltenham Festival ante-post markets where he was cut to joint-favourite by most bookmakers for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, at a best price of 5/1.

Having been priced at 7/1 before the race, he's now as short as 3/1 favourite in places for the Cheltenham curtain-raiser.

The Willie Mullins-trained Kilcruit remains favourite at this stage, not seen since his Grade 1 victory at Punchestown back in April.

Much had been made of the £570,000 purchase of Jonbon by JP McManus, but trainer Nicky Henderson was keen to play down the furore and his debut over obstacles at Newbury certainly lived up to the price tag.
