Tip 1: Jordans Cross - 0.5pt EW

Best odds of 11/2 available at Betfred while publishing.

The form of the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase received another form boost on Tuesday when Quebecois finished a close 3rd in the Ultima Handicap Chase, and as a result, JORDANS CROSS (best priced at 11/2) looks to hold solid claims in this race. The Anthony Honeyball-trained six-year-old is unlucky not to be unbeaten in his four starts over fences as he fell when still going well behind stablemate Kduex Saint Fray here in November.

Jordans Cross beat Quebecois by a nose on Trials Day, and since then the 3rd and 4th have gone on to place on their next starts, the 5th Califet En Vol, the 6th Secret Des Dieux and even the horse who finished last of nine have a won since, so it looks a strong piece of form.

The race itself has previously produced four festival winners and two further seconds from the previous seven renewals, so Jordans Cross looks a solid option off only a 6lb higher mark.

Tip 2: Jeriko Du Reponet - 1pt

Best odds of 4/1 at Betfred at the time of publishing.

Six-time Festival-winning rider Derek O’Connor has chosen to partner JERIKO DU REPONET (best priced at 4/1) for owner JP McManus in this contest, which is significant as he has previously ridden both Any Second Now in 2019 and Inothewayurthinkin in 2024 to win this from the head of the weights.

Jeriko Du Reponet finished runner-up in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at the festival last season when fitted with first-time cheekpieces prior to reversing form with Doddiethegreat at the Punchestown festival. All four of his four chase starts have come without headgear, and with cheekpieces reapplied here, he sneaks into the race off the ceiling rating of 145.
