English King has been cut to as short as 3/1 favourite for The Derby following the news that Frankie Dettori has been booked to ride him.

Trainer Ed Walker confirmed the booking this morning, and the colt is now a best price of 7/2 at the top of the market.

English King won the Lingfield Derby Trial earlier this month with Tom Marquand in the saddle. Thoroughly impressive on that occasion, he was promptly cut from 66/1 in places into 5/1 at the time.

The news that legendary jockey Frankie Dettori will take the ride for The Derby has caught the attention of punters. The Italian certainly relishes the big occasions, having won The Derby three times previously.

He bagged another six winners at Royal Ascot last week, with the third Gold Cup aboard Stradivarius the obvious highlight.

Elsewhere in The Derby market, 2000 Guineas winner Kameko is now 5/1 best price, though as short as 7/2 elsewhere. Godolphin colt Military March follows at 11/2.

The Derby will take place behind-closed-doors at Epsom on Saturday 4th July.
