That rival had won a strong Aintree race on his previous start, and the runner-up Mighty Bandit won on his next start and is now rated 6lbs higher. Secret Des Dieux runs here off only a 2lb higher mark, which is fair, and based on how strongly he stayed over 2m½f last time, this step up in trip to 2m4½f should also bring about some improvement.

PHILS CHOICE (best priced at 7/1) finished a close 2nd in this race last season, and she runs here off the same mark this year. She won this race in 2023, beating Millstream Lady by ½ length off a mark of 97, and that rival reversed form last year on 2lbs better terms (now rated 14lbs higher). The pair pulled 6 ½ lengths clear of the third, so it looks strong form based on what the winner has also achieved since.

Phils Choice has run twice so far this season over fences but now reverts back to hurdling in a race which will have clearly been the target, and she looks sure to run well.

THE KING OF PRS (best priced at 14/1) finished 3rd beaten less than a length in this race last season off a mark of 130, and he runs here off only a 4lb higher mark. The Gavin Cromwell-trained seven-year-old won a Grade 3 Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse on his next start before disappointing at the spring festivals.

He was brought down on his reappearance before finishing well beaten at Fairyhouse last time, but that was at a time when the stable was out of form. The Gavin Cromwell stable has shown improved form over the last week or so with a lot of placed efforts, and The King Of Prs is expected to run well with Keith Donoghue back on board.
