Glorious Goodwood Tuesday ITV Racing Tips

SETTING SAIL (best price 4-1) is the stand-out horse in the ITV opener, and to be honest I’m surprised you can get 4/1. He’s up a further 4lb following a solid run at York, where he finished second to the impressive Pivoine. Pivoine’s form could be crucial in this race, as a there’s plenty of form in the field linked to the horse. Beringer was beaten by Jazeel last time out, since that victory, Jazeel has been blown away by Pivoine at York.

Setting Sail’s chances have been boosted by Rise Hall (beat by 1 1/2L two runs ago) landing a win a couple of days ago.

The other in the race I think is worth taking a punt on is SOTO SIZZLER (best price 11-1). The four-year-old is having his first run over 1m 2f, which will suit the horse. Soto Sizzler has solid form on the turf this season, and holds an entry in the Ebor. With five places on offer the 11/1 looks a cracking bet.

I don’t see much chance in Lope Y Fernandez reversing the form on the favourite. PINATUBO (best price 11-8) was pulling away with ease despite arguably having the harder path through the race when the pair met last month at Ascot. The two-year-old’s progressing nicely through the season and should have enough to land another win.

There’s another bet I really like in this race, and that’s PLATINUM STAR w/o the favourite (best price 13-2). There are two places available in this market, and I’d be shocked if the Godolphin horse isn’t in that pair. The talented two-year-old lost narrowly to the impressive Southern Hills at Ascot, before losing out to Royal Lytham in a photo at Newmarket. He was flying towards the finish at Newmarket, the 7f should suit.

ZAAKI (best price 10-3) returns back to 7f after a stellar season at 1m, and if he manages to cope with the drop in distance looks a cracking bet at 10/3 (potentially larger on the day). He was narrowly beat by Beat The Bank at Ascot earlier in the month, which was off the back of two impressive wins. Expect Ryan Moore to pounce late on the likes of Sir Dancealot.

STRADIVARIUS (best price 8-11) looked to be in a spot of bother when boxed in at Ascot, but still managed to find a way out and stay on to complete another win. The five-year-old always seems to find that little bit extra when under pressure, which was the same story when beating Southern France on reappearance. There are plenty of good opponents in this race, but I still can’t see Stradivarius losing.

A couple of unknown quantities in this race, but COBRA EYE (best price 15-8) looks a decent favourite after his run at Haydock. John Quinn’s horse should progress from his debut run, and has the added boost of having in-form Frankie Dettori in the saddle.

COUNT OTTO (best price 12-1) comes into the race following a good win at Epsom earlier in the month, a few who finished behind him on that day have gone onto run well. The four-year-old ran into trouble here last year, but still finished off the race well to take seventh. He often finds trouble, but if Pat Dobbs can find a clear path he could have a cracking chance back at 5f.

SAVAANAH (best price 10-1) looks an interesting prospect now back in a handicap. The four-year-old has been running in listed company, and the form of the previous listed run has turned out well. She has two wins over this distance.
