Despite being one of the favourites, Blaklion is not even one the top 10 most backed horses.
Despite being billed as one of the favourites for the Grand National, punters are not as keen on nine-year-old Blaklion as bookies.
In fact, the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained horse is no less than the 12th most backed entrant out of 40 runners over the last week.
Blaklion sits perennially around the top of the market alongside the likes of Seeyouatmidnight at 14/1, however, it isn’t grabbing punters’ attention.
It doesn’t get much better as we approach the race, with a mere 3.3% of bets in the last 24 hours being placed on the nine-year-old.
Gordon Elliot-hope Tiger Roll (12/1) is proving the second most popular with punters with 7.1%,. slightly behind I Just Know (12/1) with 9.4% of bets.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Last year’s fourth place was the early favourite yet as the race draws nearer, punters have begun to look elsewhere. This is likely due to the gruelling conditions at Aintree and the fact that the nine-year-old has to carry top weight.
“However, if Blaklion’s odds continue to lengthen, we might just see a late surge of bets on Nigel Twiston-Davies’ inmate.”
