Racing Lee picks out five standout bets from Saturday’s cards.
2:12 Haydock
Tip 1: WILLIETHEBUILDER - 0.75pt EW (4 places)
Best odds of 13/2 at bet365 while publishing.
Having won the day after Boxing Day at Kempton, then followed up with another cosy win beating the re-opposing We’re Red And Blue, things haven’t went smoothly since.
The last two runs have seen him hampered, two runs ago at Musselburgh when he should have finished closer, and then in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last time out.
His jockey from those wins as mentioned now gets back on board to take off five pounds, and he’s struck up a good relationship with him and can hopefully get back on track and finish the season out strongly for a team in good form.
3:05 Musselburgh
Tip 2: GAMBINO - 1pt WIN
Best odds of 3/1 at BetMGM UK while publishing.
Second off one pound lower mark when tried in Ireland over one-mile-four, and now steps up in trip having ran a fine third to Constitution Hill two starts ago (winner won again since).
Last time out he stayed on well after making smooth headway when third over hurdles at Newbury.
He should be ripe to run a good race here for this nice pot, considering the Skeleton’s could have found a hurdle race, or, something closer to home.
3:50 Fairyhouse
Tip 3: HE CAN’T DANCE - 1pt WIN
Best odds of 3/1 at William Hill while publishing.
A Point-to-point winner who beat Cheltenham Festival winner Meetmebythesea.
He Can’t Dance fetched 300,000 at the Aintree sales, and won a Bumper before finishing third in a Grade 2 at the Dublin Racing Festival, and went on to finish in the Champion Bumper, which has worked out very well.
Bambino Fever, Heads Up, El Cairos, No Drama This End, Idaho Sun, to name a few have all proved the form to be strong in the build up to the festivals.
He was beaten a fair way behind Doctor Steinburg went sent off 11/8 favourite on hurdles debut, but the winner has since won a Grade 1.
His next three runs have all had form boosts, and then he ran a respectable third of 21 on handicap debut at the Dublin Racing Festival when last seen.
It was on heavy ground, and the field was well strung out, but he stuck to his task well. He looks like this may have been a build up to a Festival handicap, and with form to suggest there is still more to come, here’s hoping he has been saved for this race and not Cheltenham for the intent of adding money to the Gordon Elliott Champion Trainer prize pot.

Tip 4 - MURCIA - 0.5pt WIN
Best odds of 10/1 at bet365 while publishing.
MESSERSCHMITT - 0.5pt WIN
Best odds of 9/1 at SpreadEx while publishing.
MURCIA has shown solid form in the past, including bagging a Grade 1 at Aintree’s Grand National meeting this time last year.
Sent handicapping she’s shown up well at the Dublin Racing Festival, and didn’t get the rub of the green in the County.
She’s once again over-looked by stable jockey Paul Townend, it she maybe over-priced as a consequence.
MESSERSCHMITT has ran in Grade 2 and 3’s at this track, and won a Galway hurdle race, and was just touched off at that track off 123.
Now off 127, but gets 5 pounds claimed off by the very talented, and one of the claimers of the season, Michael Kenneally.
He ran a decent fourth in the Imperial Cup at Sandown on his latest run, and another who may be over-priced against Karbau.
5:05 Haydock
Tip 5: SOLAR SYSTEM - 0.5pt EW (4 places)
Best odds of 9/2 at Unibet while publishing.
Harry Cobden jocked up for this course winner.
That was over hurdles, and over two-mile-five, and he was a four time winner from just 14 starts over hurdles.
He’s had one spin over fences last time out when staying on into third.
The winner and fifth have ran second places since, and the last placed sixth that day he won subsequently.
He seemed to be learning on the job, and this trip is just shy of that trip from last time.
