We’ve looked at who punters are backing since connections confirmed the favourite would bypass the race.
Yesterday trainer Richard Hannon confirmed King Of Change would miss next week’s Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The four-year-old was the 3/1 favourite for Tuesday’s Group 1, and had accrued 40% of ante-post bets through the Oddschecker market. However, the plan for the winner of last year’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at the meeting has been altered by connections.
Elsewhere, the top of the market was also rocked by the news that Benbatl would miss the race and set his sights on an autumn campaign.
Since King Of Change’s removal from the market yesterday, Circus Maximus has been the most backed with 38% of bets.
The winner of last year’s St James’s Palace Stakes is now the clear favourite for the race, at a best price of 10/3.
Fox Chairman (8/1) is next on the list for punters with 14% of bets in that same period. Andrew Balding’s four-year-old was the runner-up in last year’s Hampton Court Stakes, last seen winning a listed race at Newbury in July.
