Wellington Arch - 0.5pt EW

Best odds of 7/1 at Unibet while publishing.

INDEEVAR BLEU (best priced at 5/1) had to miss the Cheltenham Festival with a small setback but it could be a blessing in disguise given his previous course and distance victory at this track. The Olly Murphy trained eight-year-old finished a good 2nd behind Tutti Quanti in the Gerry Feilden in November when Indemnity was back in 3rd. Both have won valuable handicaps since with Tutti Quanti now rated 21lbs higher and Indenmity waiting to be reassessed following a 5 ½ length win in the Sussex Champion Hurdle. Indeevar Bleu won by 5 ½ lengths over this course and distance on Boxing Day off a mark of 129 and could still prove well handicapped off a mark of 138.

Last year’s winner WELLINGTON ARCH (best priced at 8/1) should also be involved in the finish. He won this by a neck last year having idled at the finish when 5 lengths clear at the last. He needed his reappearance at Windsor but finished 2nd behind Tutti Quanti in the valuable William Hill Hurdle at Newbury in February before winning at Uttoxeter last time. A 5lb rise for that success is fair and he should run well with up to six places on offer.

Tip 2 - Dalston Lad - 1pt EW

Best odds of 9/1 at Unibet while publishing.

The best bet of the day comes in the oddschecker Sefton Novices’ Hurdle where DALSTON LAD (best priced at 9/1) looks primed to run a big race. 7 of the previous 11 winners skipped the Cheltenham Festival which is a negative for lots at the top of the market here and Dan Skelton said this race was the target in an interview after his impressive 4 length success in the Grade 2 Prestige Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock in February.

Dalston Lad earnt himself a rating of 136 for that success which gives him nearly 10lbs to find with the favourites in this race but as Mange Tout showed yesterday, it can pay to back horses targeted at this meeting.
