Baker Blue has run with credit on his next two starts and stayed on well over 5f here last time when only beaten a neck off a mark of 85 with the front two 4 ½ lengths clear. This step back up in trip to 6f should suit and he can continue his progress.

SMOKEY MALONE (best priced at 11/2) is a five-time course winner at Southwell and he should hold strong claims of following up his recent course success. The eight-year-old is probably better over further than 1m4f at this stage of his career as he stayed on strongly over 1m6f last time.
The handicapper has only raised Smokey Malone 3lbs up to a mark of 53 for a one length success last time which still means he is below a mark of 60 which he has won twice off at this venue. He looks a solid each way option with four places available.
