Novak Djokovic

The winner of the last three Wimbledon titles on the men’s singles side, NOVAK DJOKOVIC (7/8), tops the tree as the most backed for Wimbledon 2022 through oddschecker so far this year. The six-time champion has been backed in 16.35% of betslips for this year’s men’s singles.

Five of the last seven titles have gone the way of the Serb since 2014 (the tournament was cancelled because of Covid in 2020), with Roger Federer the only other winner since 2017, when the Swiss maestro beat Maran Cilic in straight sets.

Iga Swiatek

The current superstar of the women’s game, IGA SWIATEK, is second on our list (21.59% of bets on the women’s singles), which will come as no surprise to regular tennis fans and punters given that she remains on an unbeaten winning streak of 35 matches dating back to mid-February, when she was beaten in a third set tiebreak by Jeļena Ostapenko in Dubai.

The 21-year-old, now a two-time winner of the French Open, eased through the draw at Roland Garros dropping just a single set against Chinese teenager Zheng Qinwen in the fourth round.

Andy Murray

The third most backed selection for Wimbledon 2022 takes us back to the men’s singles for what would appear to be a sentimental pick among 10.63% of the oddschecker community.

However, ANDY MURRAY (as long as 59/1 through oddschecker) has been showing signs of the form which brought him two men’s singles titles at Wimbledon, most recently in 2016.

The 35-year-old Scotsman showed more than glimpses of his best tennis in reaching the final in Stuttgart just over a week ago, before losing in a deciding set against Matteo Berrettini who is in red-hot form on the grass.

Matteo Berrettini

We’re sticking with last year’s beaten finalist MATTEO BERRETTINI for the fourth most backed player on our list (9.27% of the men’s single bets). Unlike Murray, who suffered a health scare in Stuttgart, 26-year-old Berrettini appears to have a clean bill of health heading into this year’s SW19 showpiece and assumes second favourite status after Djokovic at a general 11/2 (34/5 with one bookmaker).

Still yet to win one of the sport’s biggest prizes, the world number 11 has now been to at least the semi-finals of all four Grand Slams, including the final at Wimbledon this time last year. He followed his impressive win in Stuttgart by landing the traditional Wimbledon pre-cursor at Queens, where he dropped just a single set against Denis Kudla across five matches.

Ons Jabeur

A second contender in the women’s singles rounds off our most backed list for Wimbledon 2022 so far this year. And somewhat surprisingly, it is 16/1 fourth favourite ONS JABEUR. A pre-French Open fancy for oddschecker tipster Graham Ruthven after making the final at both the Madrid Open and Italian Open, the world number three crashed out in the first round against Magda Linette.

However, the 27-year-old (backed in 14.54% of the betslips for the women’s singles) bounced back to take the title on the grass of Berlin yesterday. The top seed was a set up in the final before her opponent Belinda Bencic was forced to retire due to an ankle injury.
