Wimbledon 2022 moves on to Round 3 and we've put together an appealing 5/1 acca across three men's matches today.
Ugo Humbert vs David Goffin
Ugo Humbert to win vs David Goffin
Ugo Humbert looks overpriced (13/9) in this Round 3 encounter given that his higher ranked opponent, David Goffin, has enjoyed the bulk of his success on the clay. Over the course of his career (albeit one which spans eight years longer than Humbert), world number 58 Goffin has recorded a 55.56% success rate on grass against 66.89% on the clay.
Humbert, who held a high rank of 25 this time last year but is currently down at 112, is three from three on the grass in 2022 and has 19 wins from a total of 31 matches (61.29% success).
Despite reaching a high rank of number seven in his career, Goffin has only reached the second week of Wimbledon on three occasions. Humbert was the victor in their only head-to-head 6-3 6-1 in Antwerp back in 2019, winning 58% of the total points and 39/50 (78%) on first serve.
Tommy Paul vs Jiri Vesely
Over 38.5 Games
A match involving a big server in Jiří Veselý as the underdog (9/5) is always likely to get us interested in the overs market for total games. Veselý is fifth for total aces in the men's draw with 22 and only eight behind second placed Carlos Alcaraz. John Isner is way ahead at the top on 54.
Veselý's opponent in Round 3, the favourite and 30th seed Tommy Paul, has been largely untroubled in two matches so far. He is yet to drop a set but was taken to a third set tie-break by Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco.
Paul has won the last two head-to-heads by two sets to one, while Veselý won the first of their three meetings on the grass in the summer of 2019. A match involving a big serving underdog is always likely to test the overs line if it goes to four sets.
Novak Djokovic vs Miomir Kecmanovic
Novak Djokovic to Win 3-0
We're always likely to side with a six-time champion in a Round 3 match, as Novak Djokovic starts to find his groove on the grass. The Serb had a second set wobble in his first round against Soon-Woo Kwon before dispatching Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round, dropping just seven games.
Djokovic's career win rate on the grass comes in at a staggering 85.04% over 20 years, while today's opponent and fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic has 13 wins to 12 losses on the surface.
Seeded 25, Kecmanovic will put up a fight against Djokovic but we saw enough from the reigning champion to back him 3-0 in the Set Betting market. We had been tempted with Djokovic and Under 33.5 games at 1/4, but if you fancy him to win in straight sets then 3-0 appears better value as three close sets and you could lose out in the unders line.
