Wimbledon 2022 moves on to the semi-final stage and we've put together this 8.7/1 acca across the women's and men's matches.
Ons Jabeur vs Tatjana Maria
The 2022 women’s singles tournament has been hugely unpredictable with only one of the top 15 seeds left standing in the draw. Tatjana Maria, ranked 103 in the world, is one of the standout stories from that in making it all the way to the semi-final.
She comes up against one of the most in form players on the tour here though and I expect Ons Jabeur to win comfortably against her friend.
Jabeur has won all 10 of her matches on grass this year, only dropping two sets in the process. While her path through the draw has been simpler than it would have looked at the start of the tournament, she has taken some big scalps on the grass beating Cori Gauff, Iga Swiatek and Garbine Muguruza during the last two years.
Maria has lost the first set in three out of her five wins in this tournament and if she starts slowly against a player of Jabeur’s quality the Tunisian should run away with it. I expect Jabeur to win comfortably against her friend and cover the -5.5 handicap.
Novak Djokovic vs Cameron Norrie
The only previous meeting between Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie was at the ATP Finals in Turin last year where Djokovic won handily with a 6-2 6-1 scoreline.
That week was a tough one for Norrie to prepare for though, when he replaced Stefanos Tsitsipas in the tournament after one match. I see this being significantly trickier for the Serb where the backing of the home crowd for Norrie should be a big factor.
Both of these players were involved in five set matches in the quarter-finals and I don’t see Djokovic following that up with a formality win in such a big match for both players. Djokovic in his race with Nadal for most career Grand Slams and Norrie in his first slam semi-final.
Djokovic will likely silence the crowd to come through this match and I see Norrie taking total games over the 33.5 line.
Nick Kyrgios vs Rafael Nadal
Make sure you back this next one (or the acca) with a bookie that will void bets if a player retires.
Even with Rafael Nadal’s abdominal injury causing him problems in his win over Taylor Fritz, if he gets the all-clear to play the semi against Nick Kyrgios the Spaniard is undervalued at 13/10.
In such a huge match for Kyrgios I just can’t have him as favourite should the match go ahead. Nadal is the greatest competitor tennis has ever seen in terms of his fighting spirit and I think that attitude will see him through.
Nadal leads the head to head 6-3 and has won both of the previous meeting on grass, the latest being a four set victory in 2019.
