Wimbledon 2024

The 2023 edition was the first time in 21 years that a male singles competitor other than Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray won on the grass, with current world No.3 Carlos Alcaraz beating No.2 Djokovic in the final. Both will be desperate to get their hands on the trophy once more.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, Tunisian world No.10 Ons Jabeur will be hoping to go one better after successive final defeats at the hands, and rackets, of Elena Rybakina in 2022 and the unprecedented unseeded victory of Markéta Vondroušová in 2023.

But, she’ll have stiff competition with the likes of Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek hoping to land their first Wimbeldon titles too.

Wimbledon 2024 Predictions

British hopes look fairly thin on the ground. Katie Boulter (66/1, Betway) is the only seeded British female at the lowest ranking of 32, while wildcard Emma Raducanu (28/1, Starsports) faces Russian 22nd seed Ekaterina Alexandrova (125/1 Betfair) in round one.

Belarussian 3rd seed, Aryna Sabalenka leads the way in winners market at 15/4 (Spreadex) despite never reaching a Wimbeldon final. She is closely followed by recent French Open winner Iga Swiatek at 9/2 (Paddy Power) and Elena Ryabink at 6/1 (Ladbrokes).

In the male competition, Jack Draper (25/1, Betfred) is the highest Brit seed at 28th, while two-time winner Andy Murray (500/1, Sky Bet) has outlined that he won’t make a decision on whether he’ll play until the very last minute due to a back injury. Fellow ‘Big Four’ member and seven-time champion, Novak Djokovic, is also in a race to be fit.

Should Djokovic be fit, it looks to be a straight shoot out between the all-timer at 7/2 (Bet Victor), new world No.1 Jannik Sinner at 15/8 (Boyle Sports) and 2023 winner, Carlos Alcaraz at 5/2 (Coral).

Wimbledon 2024 Tips

It’s hard to look past the odds for Djokovic in the men’s event. 7/2 on the big Serb to win will be some of the best since his professional debut. And, given he won three of the four slams last year (Wimbledon being his only loss), if he’s fit enough, he’ll be more than good enough, obviously.

Elsewhere, William Hill have a 6/1 bet on anyone other than the three aforementioned names winning men’s the tournament, and the odds only grow when you pick a specific player.

4th seed Alexander Zverev is 17/1 (LiveScoreBet) to win, and has had a strong slam season with a Australian Open semi final and French Open final appearance. He’s a great outside shout.

Ons Jabeur is the 10th seed in the women’s event, but 14/1 (bet365) is excellent value for a Wimbledon final almost-veteran. Can she go all the way this time?

Emma Raducanu’s lowest price is, for the market, a fairly low 20/1 (bet365) despite being a wildcard - she of course has a slam trophy under her belt, and is on home soil. Dare I say she can bring it home?
