Federer v Anderson

Roger Federer set a new Wimbledon record for sets won in a row against Kevin Anderson today, the current record being his own and you wouldn’t put it past the 36-year-old. Federer is yet to have been broken in this year’s Championship, and he had not even faced a break point until his match with Mannarino last round.

He comes up against an opponent in Anderson today whose main strength is his big serve. Of the four sets the South African has lost on grass this year, three of them have gone to a tie break and in all of them, his opponent has needed seven games to take it. He can hold his own with Federer early in the match and the 1st set tie break at 11/5 looks great value.

Djokovic v Nishikori

Novak Djokovic looks like he could be finally be finding his form again, reaching the final at Queens a few weeks back and is playing extremely well thus far. Meanwhile, Nishikori is enjoying his best ever run at SW19 this year, reaching the quarter finals for the first ever time.

I can see Nishikori getting brought back down to reality today however by a revitalised and rampant Djokovic, who will have his eyes firmly set on a first Grand Slam in over two years. Although the two players have never actually met on grass before, Nishikori hasn’t taken a set off Djokovic in their last 11 sets on hard courts whilst he hasn’t beaten the Serbian since 2014. Djokovic in straight sets is the bet here.
