If you’re to believe what you read in the media, Tom Hiddleston becoming the latest man to play 007 is set in stone.

According to the bookmakers he is undoubtedly the front runner at 2/5. With the likes of Aidan Turner as short as 3/1 and both Idris Elba and Tom Hardy at 8/1, not all bookies think it’s a done deal.

Hiddleston was quick to quash any rumours himself, saying: "it’s difficult to talk about because it’s a very unreal conversation.

"I haven’t spoken to anybody that makes those films, it’s just an idea in people’s minds so it’s quite hard to engage with."

As far as other candidates are concerned, you can get a lively 1000/1 on Alan Curbishley inheriting Daniel Craig’s licence to kill. He has been keeping a low profile for a while now…
