According to recent odds at Oddschecker, Mercedes’ teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli is the betting favourite to win the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, with an implied win probability of around 36%, while Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc sit as the next most fancied drivers at roughly 20% and 18% respectively.

Hungarian Grand Prix Circuit Preview
The Hungaroring is one of Formula 1's most technical venues. Measuring 4.38 km, the circuit features 70 laps and very few long straights, placing a premium on aerodynamic balance, tyre preservation and qualifying pace. Dirty air can make overtaking extremely difficult, meaning strategy and pit-stop execution often play a decisive role on race day.
With the summer break looming, every point could prove crucial in both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships. Expect another tactical battle in Budapest, where qualifying could ultimately determine who stands on the top step of the podium.

Racing Bulls have quietly emerged as the standout midfield team heading into the Hungarian Grand Prix. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have delivered double points finishes in four of the last six races, underlining the consistency that has propelled the team clear of their midfield rivals.
Their recent results speak for themselves. The pair finished P6 and P7 at Silverstone, matching the team's biggest points haul of the season, before following that up with P8 and P9 in Spain and P9 and P10 in Austria. While Belgium saw only Lindblad score with ninth place and Lawson finish 12th, and Canada was disrupted by Lindblad's retirement, the overall trend remains extremely positive.
With the Hungaroring placing a premium on driver confidence, tyre management and qualifying pace rather than outright straight-line speed, Racing Bulls look well equipped to continue their impressive run. Backing both cars to finish in the points represents an appealing option given the team's recent form.

The Hungaroring has often produced incidents despite its relatively low average speeds, and this year's race has every chance of continuing that trend.
A full Safety Car has appeared in three of the last five Formula 1 races. Belgium saw one deployed on the opening lap following George Russell's collision, while the British Grand Prix ended behind the Safety Car after Max Verstappen's late crash. Monaco also required intervention after Lance Stroll found the barriers in the closing stages.
Even in the two races without a full Safety Car, Austria and Spain both featured Virtual Safety Car periods, highlighting how frequently incidents have interrupted races in recent weeks.
With overtaking proving difficult around the Hungaroring and drivers often taking greater risks through the tight, technical middle sector, another Safety Car appearance looks a strong possibility.

Although Ferrari and Mercedes appear closely matched on paper heading into the weekend, the characteristics of the Hungaroring should slightly favour Ferrari's package. Hamilton's unrivalled experience around this circuit could prove invaluable, particularly if strategy becomes a deciding factor.
Weather could also play a significant role. Early forecasts indicate around a 40% chance of rain during the weekend, and Hamilton has repeatedly demonstrated throughout his career that he is among the very best in mixed or wet conditions. Should the race become unpredictable, few drivers would inspire more confidence.
