The biggest wrestling event of the year gives us the opportunity to make profit!
The ‘Granddaddy of them all’ is even more so this year, with 16 matches for us lucky fans to sit through. Whether you’re planning on pulling an all-nighter or taking the Monday off work, make sure you check these tips to try and make some profit.
It’s been a hell of a 12 months and the whole event will culminate with the women front and centre for the first time. Sometimes fans just pick a person and beg for them to be pushed no matter what. It happened with Daniel Bryan for Wrestlemania 30, and it’s happening for both KOFI KINGSTON and BECKY LYNCH right now. Kingston has gone 11 years without holding a world title and now could be the time for Vince to finally pull the trigger.
Some might say that he’ll be denied again because he’s just not a ‘top’ guy, and my response to that is five words: “Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler”. Both these guys held titles at some point in the past (with Swagger getting pushed again when partnered with Zeb Cotler a few years ago), and they were no more over with the crowd than Kofi is right now.
Becky Lynch has been booked perfectly for the last few months. Although she won’t be going against Ronda Rousey one-on-one, the addition of Charlotte and the ‘winner-takes-all’ stipulation adds to the build quite nicely, and just like Kofi above I think now is the perfect time to pull the trigger on Lynch’s redemption story. This should send the crowd home happy, and us too if they both win at 4/9.
We finally say goodbye to Kurt Angle this Sunday and what a career the man has had, in my mind he is truly one of the greats. He picked up the sport quicker than anyone I have ever seen and for about two years in the mid to late 00’s in TNA, was the best wrestler in the world.
He’s expected to beat BARON CORBIN but I don’t see it happening. Angle is old school and in my mind will want to put over some talent on his way out, and Corbin desperately needs something after nearly getting ruined with his ‘constable’ gimmick. I don’t expect it to be a clean finish, but I think at 17/10, Corbin is good value.
Finally, the Smackdown Tag Team Championship offers up some intriguing scenarios, but none more so than the entry of ALEISTER BLACK AND RICOCHET. The duo lit up NXT and have an opportunity to win Tag Titles in two brands in 48 hours.
WWE needs to build up some more tag teams (especially if the Revival do get their long-expected release) and there’s no better team to start with than two guys who are well and truly locked into the company.
It’s rare that WWE put dual titles on people, but it’s just as rare for those opportunities to come along. So in my mind it’s worth a small play at 3/1 in case it does happen!
