NBA MVP Power Rankings

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (+450) (Bet $100 to collect $550) Click here for the best odds, available at DraftKings

Giannis took a big jump from third with +750 odds to now first. First off, in his most recent game, Giannis scored 43 points to lead the Bucks to an impressive second-half comeback over the Brooklyn Nets. The game before that? A 44-point outing against the Houston Rockets. He leads the league with 36 points per game and is second in the league with 13 rebounds per game. His team is a quick 3-0 to start off this season, which is the biggest reason he made this jump to own the odds. He’s a two-time MVP and won the Finals MVP in the 2021 season, so there’s no surprise with this one.

2. Luka Doncic (+480) (Bet $100 to collect $580) Click here for the best odds, available at DraftKings

In no way did Doncic’s play cause him to drop from leading the odds. Rather, Giannis just had that strong of a start. Through 3 games, he’s averaging 34.7 points per game, which is third in the entire league in the early stages of this season. He’s yet to score under 30 points, and he’s torched each team the Mavericks have taken on. Giannis, though, has wins over Doncic, as the Mavericks are 1-2 through three games. Doncic has had MVP expectations for years, despite being incredibly young. He’s finally there, though, and will likely hover around the top of these power rankings for the entirety of the season.

3. Jayson Tatum (+700) (Bet $100 to collect $800) Click here for the best odds, available at DraftKings

The Boston Celtics are 3-1 through four games this season, and Tatum has led them while averaging 32.5 points per game. He’s pulled together a 35-point and 40-point game this season, while their team looks ready to make another finals appearance this season with a chance to win it. If the Celtics finish atop the Eastern Conference and he keeps his stats at an MVP level, there’s no reason Tatum shouldn’t finish top-3 in voting. He’s gradually improved each season leading to this, and he’s got the tools to be an MVP player, and we’re seeing that come to life this season.

4. Ja Morant (+750) (Bet $100 to collect $850) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

To start this season, Morant has absolutely shown out. So far, he’s second in the league, averaging 35.3 points per game. He’s had one dud of a game in their lone loss that came to the Mavericks, where he scored 20 points. Besides the loss, Morant has averaged over 40 points per game. He seemed to have taken yet another leap like we’ve seen from him each season since entering the league in the 2019-20 season. If he and his team continue to play like contenders, he’ll have earned his spot in these power rankings and should be regarded as an MVP candidate for the next decade or so because he’s that good and that young.

5. Joel Embiid (+1100) (Bet $100 to collect $1200) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

While the 76ers are a rough 1-4 to start this season, they have more than enough time to turn their season around. In those games, Embiid averages 27.6 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. The other MVP candidates average over 30 points per game, but Embiid’s 27.6 points per game are still high, and if he can continue or improve his stats this season and the 76ers flip their season around and catch fire in this regular season, he could be a player to potentially climb these rankings. We saw him carry the team to the playoffs last season, as he played most of the season without James Harden. The team now has time to mesh, and they’ll do absolutely that. Turning their season around will come with time.
