NBA MVP Power Rankings

1. Luka Doncic (+275) (Bet $100 to Win $375) Click here for the best odds, available at BetMGM

A slight boost from +300 to +275 puts Doncic just past Giannis. His high minutes, high usage season continues at an incredible pace, as he averages 34.4 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, and 7.8 assists per game. The biggest part of his odds climb has been consistently showing his ability to do just about everything on the offensive side of the ball for his team. In his past two games, Doncic has put together a 35 and 42-point game to show why he’s the leading candidate for MVP odds. The one way Doncic could build separation from Giannis, besides remaining healthy and playing to his level, is to pull out more wins for the Mavs and improve on their 8-5 record.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo (+280) (Bet $100 to Win $380) Click here for the best odds, available at DraftKings

A very slight fall from +270 to +280 gives Luke a very tiny win for the week, and the next week is a complete toss-up for who will lead the odds. Right now, the two are essentially 1a and 1b next to each other in the MVP competition, and they’re the lone two players at the top of the race. Giannis is averaging 29.9 points per game, 11.8 points per game, and 5.5 assists per game. While remaining elite on defense, the big double-double is a big part of why the two-time MVP has a solid case this season. His team is 9-2 on the season, and he hasn’t had the most dominant stretch of games, which helped allow Doncic to catch him in the odds.

3. Jayson Tatum (+700) (Bet $100 to Win $800) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

For Tatum, there’s a reason why he’s floating around his same odds week by week, which has left him in the third-ranked spot for a few weeks now. He’s far enough ahead of four but too far behind the second position that his spot is quite comfortable for now. His 31.1 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game have led the Celtics to a 12-3 record early this season. He is the best player on the best team in the NBA, and those players usually have good positioning to compete for the MVP award and have solid ground on which to build their case. For Tatum, it’s good enough to keep him somewhat close behind Giannis and Luka, and he could eventually catch them.

4. Stephen Curry (+1200) (Bet $100 to Win $1,300) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

After making his debut on the list last week, Curry has already caught and overtaken Ja Morant’s spot on this list. His elite play is similar to what we saw in his 2015-16 season, but the only thing that’s lacking for Curry and his Golden State Warriors is the wins in the win column. He’s averaging 32.8 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, and 6.4 assists per game. In the month of November (7 games), Curry has had a 39-point game, 40-point game, 47-point game, and, most recently, a 50-point game. The incredible stretch is what has propelled Curry into these rankings and ahead of Morant. If the wins start coming for Curry, his MVP case is even more magnified.

5. Ja Morant (+1400) (Bet $100 to Win $1,500) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

Morant is putting together averages of 29.3 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 6.8 assists per game. In most seasons, this would be the league's leader in odds for the MVP award, which just speaks to the volume of talent this league has right now. Competing for the league’s most prestigious award is no easy task, and Morant is facing this right now. His team is competing and winning while he’s playing incredibly well, but it’s not quite enough. If he floats in the position he’s in right now, Morant could see an incredible boost with a hot streak this season.
