We’re over a quarter of the way into the new NBA season, and we’ve got a more solid idea of who will be able to contend for the MVP trophy later this season. Let’s take a look at the updated NBA MVP Odds Power Rankings.

NBA MVP Power Rankings

1. Jayson Tatum (+280) (Bet $100 to Win $380) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

Tatum’s Boston Celtics are sitting at 21-5 at this point in the NBA season. They’re leading both the Eastern Conference and the NBA in standings. Tatum, of course, is the main driver of the top-seeded team in the NBA. That alone is a reason for a player to be within the top-3 odds for the NBA award. He’s averaging 30.5 points per game and 8.2 points per game. Between team success and statistics, Tatum being the lead player for the MVP odds makes sense.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo (+300) (Bet $100 to Win $400) Click here for the best odds, available at BetMGM

Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks are right behind the Boston Celtics in the season standings at 18-6. They’re also on a three-game winning streak, like the Celtics. To be honest, Giannis is having an incredible start to the month of December. In his three games played this week, he’s averaging 36.3 points per game on 63.5% from the field. If he can continue to put up monster numbers while finding team success, his case for the MVP is just as strong as Tatum’s.

3. Luka Doncic (+310) (Bet $100 to Win $410) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

With 32.9 points per game for Doncic, he slowly watched his big odds lead slip away from him and now sits at third in the odds. His numbers are still incredible now, but they’re slowly dropping while his team is 13-11 and in seventh place in the Western Conference. They’re one win streak away from jumping higher in the Western Conference, but as of now, his case just isn’t as compelling without as much team success as the other guys.

4. Stephen Curry (+750) (Bet $100 to Win $850) Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel

Curry got an odds boost that could leave him in range to catch the top three in the next few weeks, and I’m not too sure why. He’s averaging 30 points per game on the dot, and he’s been incredible this season. His odds are fair. I’m just confused as to the timing of his jump. In his three games played in the last week, he’s averaging just 20.3 points per game on 35.2% from the field. His being close to the top three is fine, though, and he should get a bump if his team can catch a break from .500 and have a more sound, winning record.

5. Joel Embiid (+1600) (Bet $100 to Win $1,700) Click here for the best odds, available at BetRivers

It seems as if Embiid is on the outside looking into the top four. He’s got the statistics as he’s averaging 31.9 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game, but the Philadelphia 76ers, like the Golden State Warriors, are an even .500 record at 12-12. Now, in Embiid’s two games played in the month of December, he’s averaging 37 points per game and has been incredible. If he continues this stretch while breaking away from .500, he should come closer to Curry and even pass him if the Warriors aren’t winning as much.
