2022-23 NBA MVP Odds: Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid Leading The Way In NBA MVP Race

Some have stated that the NBA has exited the big-man era. But has it? The NBA MVP odds are led by both two big-men. Giannis is a close third, too. Unless you’re counting Luka as a point guard, which isn’t unreasonable, the NBA MVP odds are dominated by forwards and bigs.

NBA MVP Race

1. Nikola Jokic (-150) Bet $100 to collect $166 PointsBet has the best odds, click here to bet

The Nuggets are 5-1 in February and Nikola Jokic has been incredible. He’s shooting nearly 60 percent from the field on the month while averaging 23-point triple-doubles on the season. No slight triple-doubles, either. He’s pulling down 14.4 rebounds per game and 11.6 assists per game on the month. Jokic is doing some historical stuff at the center position and is doing so while leading his team to the best record in the Western Conference. There’s a reason Jokic has taken a lead as the solid favorite to win the MVP award. He continues to improve on his big season.

2. Joel Embiid (+350) Bet $100 to collect $450 BetMGM has the best odds, click here to bet

Joel Embiid, after averaging 34.9 points per game in January, is averaging 32 points per game thus far in February. At this point, Embiid deserves credit for averaging double-digit free throw makes per game on the month. He’s averaging 33.4 points per game on the season, which gives him the lead on the season in nearly two fewer minutes per game than Luka Doncic, who is second. His scoring efforts and winning efforts give him a solid case to win the MVP award, and it’s fun to see him and Jokic battle for the award once again.

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo (+750) Bet $100 to collect $850 PointsBet has the best odds, click here to bet

Despite a few rough games in February, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 31 points per game in the month. He’s following that up with 37.2 points per game in February, which has been five total games. He’s willing his team to win, as he’s only lost one game while active in 2023. He’s impacting winning at the highest level and is averaging the third most points per game on the season. Again, he’s the most valuable player in terms of making wins happen. The top three guys on the list, remain on top of their conferences, but their teams would be nowhere without them.

4. Luka Doncic (+1200) Bet $100 to collect $1,300 PointsBet has the best odds, click here to bet

The difference between Luka’s case and the rest of the guys is winning. His team is a few games over .500 now, but Kyrie Irving has arrived and he’s not doing things alone anymore. Doncic’s numbers have come down to a human number. Those things combined with a recent injury are reason enough for Doncic’s odds to have fallen. Even without an injury, Luka will have to get into the top-three seeds in the West before I can put him top-3 in the odds.

5. Jayson Tatum (+1700) Bet $100 to collect $1,800 PointsBet has the best odds, click here to bet

Jayson Tatum is slowly slipping his way out of this race. His season was going incredibly well – still is – but he’s put together some stinkers lately, including a 12 and 16-point performance. Both of those are a win, so it’s hard to complain. But you want to see more from an MVP candidate. If he can get back to consistently scoring 30+ in big wins, he’ll easily climb his way back to the top of the odds or close, and I still think his case is quite compelling. If I were to bet on him winning the MVP at any time, it would be right now. This is great value and his odds will likely bounce back up rather quickly.
