NBA MVP Power Rankings
1. Joel Embiid (+165) (Bet $100 to collect $265)
Joel Embiid has jumped into the odds-on favorite for the NBA MVP.
Embiid has averaged over 40 points per game in December. Despite not playing in the Christmas game, Embiid has been absolutely lights out, earning 12.6 rebounds and nearly five assists per game in December.
He's also shot 60.6% from the field and has had two games with at least 50 points in the month.
2. Nikola Jokic (+280) (Bet $100 to collect $380)
Meanwhile, Jokic is close to averaging a triple-double with 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.2 assists.
However, in December, he's only averaged 22.4 points per game and has shot just 50% from the field.
This is why Embiid has taken over the No. 1 spot in the odds for MVP.
3. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+650) (Bet $100 to collect $750)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is now third on the MVP list. He's added over 31 points per game this month and has also added 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds.
This season, Gilgeous-Alexander has shot over 53% from the field and has scored 30.8 points per game. He's been one of the most consistent players in the NBA this season.
However, he's only shot 21.4% from three in this month. That could keep him from winning the award, especially knowing he's a guard who can't shoot from downtown.
4. Luka Doncic (+700) (Bet $100 to collect $800)
Luka Doncic has dropped to fourth on the NBA MVP odds list. However, he's still averaged 36 points with 11.3 assists and 9.5 rebounds per game in December.
The Mavericks have just lost three of their last five games, which is one of the main reasons why he's fallen down the list.
Personally, Doncic is still putting up MVP-like numbers. At +700, there's value. The Mavericks can return on a run, and Doncic will rise quickly.
5. Giannis Antetokounmpo (+1000) (Bet $100 to collect $1100)
We said Giannis needed to increase his assist numbers if he wanted a chance to win the MVP. He's got 6.9 assists in December, despite only earning 5.5 assists per game this season.
That's improvement.
He's also added 32.4 points per game in December, a couple more points than his season's average.
On top of that, the Bucks have won seven straight games. That could only help Giannis, too.
6. Jayson Tatum (+2800) (Bet $100 to collect $2900)
Jayson Tatum isn't filling up the box score like some expected. Therefore, he's dropped tremendously. He's averaged 25.3 points per game. However, he's had games with only 15 points and other games with just two assists and four rebounds.
He rarely puts together a full game where he gets close to a triple-double with 30 points.
