2025 NBA Finals MVP Odds: Early Look Ahead to NBA Finals MVP As Playoff Stars Emerge

We don't even know which teams will make the 2025 NBA Finals. Yet, there are odds on the board for who the NBA Finals MVP will be for the 2024-25 season.

When working your way through this market, you have to decide who you think will win the NBA Finals. Ultimately, if you've got the Thunder winning it all, there's a good chance Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will win the NBA Finals MVP.

The same can be said about the Cleveland Cavaliers and Donovan Mitchell.

Most of the time, the best player on the team wins the MVP award. However, last season, Jayson Tatum didn't win the MVP after winning the championship. It was Jaylen Brown instead.

In 2015, Andre Iguodala won the NBA Finals MVP Award when the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, Stephen Curry did not win his first Finals MVP award until 2022, despite the Warriors winning three championships before with Curry as the leading player.

That said, take a look at the NBA Finals MVP odds below. I'll discuss the best bets and a sleeper pick now that we're getting closer to the second round of playoff games.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are the odds-on favorite to win the NBA Championship this year. They already had one of the most iconic first-round performances, knocking off the Grizzlies in four games by a wide margin. Meanwhile, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is currently in the running to win this year's MVP Award in the NBA. He averaged nearly 33 points per game and led the Thunder to a franchise record 68 wins. Even the players in The Athletic's poll voted Gilgeous-Alexander as the MVP. If the Thunder make the NBA Finals and win it, Gilgeous-Alexander would likely be the reason why. If you like the Thunder to win it all, consider Gilgeous-Alexander to win the MVP at +155.

The sportsbooks still like the Celtics to outlast the Cavaliers and make the NBA Finals over Cleveland.

I'm not so sure about that.

The Cavaliers absolutely obliterated the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA Playoffs and easily look like the best team in the Eastern Conference. In addition, the Cavaliers had a better record than the Celtics this season and are healthier, despite Darius Garland's recent absence.

Personally, I think the Cavaliers can get by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, if it comes to it. Cleveland will have home-court advantage, and the Celtics already lost a game against the Orlando Magic, after a weak offensive performance in Game 3.

Therefore, if you like the Cavaliers to get into the NBA Finals and compete against the Thunder, you'll want to consider Mitchell to win the MVP in this year's Finals. The Cavaliers are one of the few teams that can give the Thunder a run for their money.

Long Shot: Jalen Brunson (+4500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best NBA Finals MVP odds

The Knicks are just one win away from earning a trip to the second round of the playoffs. It's likely the Knicks would face the Celtics in the second round, which certainly won't be easy. However, the Knicks have took Detroit's biggest punches and are still 3-1 in this series. The Pistons are super underrated and physical and the Knicks have still found a way with clutch shooting, big-time defense. and poise.

Brunson injured his ankle, and the Pistons went up big in Game 4 of the series. But when Brunson came back, he and Karl-Anthony Towns exploded offensively and shot the Knicks back into Game 4. Brunson is the clutchest player in the NBA. He's scored at least 12 points in the fourth quarter in all four games of the playoffs so far.

The Knicks have struggled with the best teams in the NBA all season. But that could change in the postseason. New York's roster is built to win it all. You never know!
