The entire fight world is paying attention to what Conor McGregor's next fight will be. There are tons of fighters looking to get their hands on McGregor, and more importantly the payday and notoriety that comes with it. But, who will his next fight be?
The Dustin Poirier beef is played out at this point and Nate Diaz, another former rival, looks as though his days with the UFC are coming to a close. This puts McGregor is sort of a weird spot with no obvious opponent.
However, with a bunch of big-name fighters about to step into the octagon for fights, this gives us a natural timeline for McGregor's next fight.
We know that McGregor is going to want a big name that is competing at a high level, and we know he seems to be focused on MMA and not boxing. So, who will McGregor fight next? Let's break down his top five most likely fights.

Conor McGregor Next Fight - Top Five Most Likely Fights
5. Jake Paul
Can you imagine the hype around this one? But, there are so many things standing in the ay of this one happening that I just don't see it as possible. For one, McGregor seems dedicated to MMA right now. Paul won't step into the octagon with McGregor, so it would have to be a boxing match. Let's say McGregor agrees to a fight. What weight are they competing at? Paul is so much bigger than McGregor that they could never get a governing body to sanction something between the two, meaning this would end up as an exhibition, killing tons of hype. There are too many issues standing in the way of this one happening any time soon.
4. Kamaru Usman
For the UFC, Kamaru Usman vs. Conor McGregor makes all the sense in the world. McGregor is still the biggest draw in the company and Usman is the best fighter in the company and world. But, I have this at No. 4 on the list because I don't think this fight happens next. Eventually, we will get McGregor vs. Usman, but it won't be Conor McGregor's next fight. I think McGregor wants to take a more winnable fight first before he steps into the ring with the baddest man on the planet. So, this one take the No. 4 spot here.

3. Tony Ferguson
Now we're getting into more likely fights. Tony Ferguson checks two big boxes for Conor McGregor's next fight. First, it's a winnable fight. Ferguson has lost a step, as we saw when Michael Chandler almost kicked his head off his shoulders. Second, Ferguson is a massive name. McGregor doesn't fight unknown guys and Ferguson is a future Hall of Famer with tons of fans around the globe. The issue here is also what makes it possible. He's lost a step. I don't know if a win over Ferguson does a ton for McGregor in the public eye or physically. This isn't a bad option, but the next two names are much better.

2. Charles Oliveira
The only reason this fight isn't No. 1 on this list is that I'm not sure it's winnable for McGregor. Oliveira is the hottest fighter in the sport. He hasn't lost since 2017 and he owns the record for most submission victories in UFC history. He's on an absolute tear right now and has an upcoming fight with Islam Makhachev to win back his belt. This fight would sell an insane amount of PPVs, would be a massive welcome back for McGregor and would give him a shot to step right in and have a title shot. It's a no-brainer, but I do think there is a fight to make that makes even more sense for Conor McGregor's next fight.

1. Michael Chandler
If I'm Dana White, and Conor McGregor for that matter, I'm running to make this Conor McGregor's next fight. We know about McGregor and his ability to put on a show, but Michael Chandler is every bit as talented in that department. Since he's come to the UFC, every single fight he's participated in has been must-see TV. His fight with Justin Gaethje may have been the fight of the year in 2021, and his front-kick KO of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274 is still one of the cleanest I've ever seen. McGregor vs. Chandler would be an unbelievable battle between two fighters willing to stand there and throw hands. This is the most likely matchup for Conor McGregor's next fight.
