After winning the WBO junior-featherweight tile in December 2018 and successfully defending it five times, Navarette won the vacant WBO featherweight title in October 2020 vs. Ruben Villa; and hasn’t looked back since. As for Baez, since turning professional in 2013, he made relatively light work of his competition up until a November meeting with Raeese Aleem, a majority decision loss and just the second of his career. Since then, Baez has bounced back, beating Jose Enrique Vivas via majority decision in March.
Standing at 5’9”, Baez will have the height advantage in this fight but does lose the reach battle with a reach of 70” vs. 72” of his opponent. Currently, the #7 WBO featherweight contender, Baez only recently moved from junior featherweight to featherweight and will face an uphill battle in this fight; by far the toughest of his career.
