Aljamain Sterling (21-3-0)
In just his 22nd professional fight, Sterling became the UFC bantamweight champion in March of 2021 via a controversial DQ win vs. Petr Yan. Just over a year later, however, the two got back into the octagon to set the score once and for all; a fight that ended in a split-decision win for Sterling.
While a third fight could very much be in the works should Sterling win and Yan beat Sean O’Malley earlier in the day, all of the champ’s attention is firmly on Dillashaw. Holding edges in significant striking accuracy as well as takedown average per 15 minutes, Sterling is one of the best jiu-jitsu specialists in the entire sport, and certainly atop this division.

TJ Dillashaw (17-4-0)
A two-time former bantamweight champion, Dillashaw will get his chance to grab it a third time in this fight. He does come in following another long layoff, beating Corey Sandhagen via a split decision in July 2021 following a two-year suspension for PED use.
While Dillashaw may never fully publicly recover in the eyes of many following his PED-use scandal, a win here would go a long way in rebuilding his image to many fight fights. As far as the metrics go, while many of them stem from earlier runs in the UFC, Dillashaw does hold the edge in significant strikes landed per minute, knockdowns per 15 minutes, takedown accuracy, and takedown defense (2x).
