Jon Jones (26-1-0)
Jones, one of the greatest fighters to ever don a pair of UFC gloves, will enter the octagon on Saturday for the first time in 1,120 days after being banned from the sport due to suspensions and legal difficulties. Jones held the title at light heavyweight for nearly ten years in a row and successfully defended it 13 times until exiting the sport three years ago.
In addition to fighting in a different weight division (heavyweight), his comeback will pit him against Ciryl Gane, a recent title candidate whose lone defeat came at the hands of Francis Ngannou.
Ciryl Gane (11-1-0)
There is no denying Gane's stunning rise to the top of the heavyweight class. Yet aside from Ngannou, he has mostly shied away from the freak athletes who have recently participated in this class.
Gane has been able to outstrike his opponents in the majority of his decision victories up to this point, all the while accumulating up points and avoiding the big blows that flatten fighters in at this weight. Gane will be a stern test for Jones early on in the match because of his 5.11 significant strikes per minute in his own right. He has the power to get the job done as well, as evidenced by his recent TKO victories over Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa.
