Canelo Alvarez vs. John Ryder Prediction

Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KO)

It was a rocky 2022 for Canelo, who has fought just twice over the course of the year, going 1-1 in two fights at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The loss, a unanimous decision against Dmitry Bivol was the legends' first since 2013, a majority decision loss against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather.

This fight will certainly be a get-right spot for Canelo, as he steps down in opponents following a battle with Bivol and another one later last year versus Gennadiy Golovkin. He is also coming back from a hand injury (and surgery), and a big win here could set him up for quite a comeback in 2023 and a likely rematch against Bivol.

With his WBA (Super), IBF, WBC, and WBO belts on the line, this fight should say a lot for the future of Canelo in the division moving forward.

John Ryder (32-5, 18 KO)

Stepping up to face Canelo is the British fighter John Ryder, who comes into this fight a big underdog but a fighter that shouldn’t be overlooked. Since 2017, Ryder has suffered just two defeats, both decisions and all-out battles.

With recent statement wins over Zach Parker and Andrey Sirotkin, Ryder will be looking to shock the world in this one.
