Israel Adesanya Record: Adesanya Faces Vettori at UFC 263 Coming Off First Loss

It has to be disappointing losing the title of undefeated after starting your career with 20 straight wins, and that’s exactly what happened to Israel Adesanya’s record following his loss to Jan Blachowicz.

After looking unstoppable for so long, it was a jump in weight classes that proved to be Adesanya’s undoing. But, it’s important to remember that not only is Adesanya’s record still perfect at middleweight, he’s also still the middleweight champion of the world.

Now, he faces a familiar foe in Marvin Vettori, who he defeated when they met in 2018. But, there are two vastly different fighters and if Israel Adesanya wants to improve his record to 21-1 rather than falling to 20-2 and making a habit of losing, he better come prepared.

Israel Adesanya’s Record

As mentioned earlier, Israel Adesanya holds a 20-1 record and is coming off his first ever loss. In his last fight, Adesanya attempted to move up to light heavyweight to take on champion Jan Blachowicz, but the size difference appeared to be too much for Adesanya. Blachowicz peppered The Stylebender with punishing shots all night and eventually handed him his first ever loss.

Adesanya’s record in the UFC started in 2018. Adesanya came into the company holding an already perfect 11-0 record following his time with a few different companies. His first win in the octagon came against Rob Wilkinson via TKO, and his second ever UFC fight was his first bout against Marvin Vettori.

Adesanya defeated Vettori by split decision, bringing Adesanya’s record to 13-0, but Vettori didn’t agree with how the fight was decided and has used that as motivation leading into this fight. From that fight on, Adesanya ripped off seven straight more victories before eventually falling to Blachowicz.
