Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 297

The first 2024 pay-per-view of the year will go off live from Toronto, Canada, on Saturday night, as a pair of title fights headline the co-main and main event. With nearly double-digit Canadian fighters on the prelims and main cards, neither the co-main and main event features one.

In the co-main, a pair of bantamweight killers Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva will face off for the vacant title, as Julianna Pena recovers from injury. Let’s take a closer look at both fighters, where the odds are headed, and who likely comes out on top and leaves Canada a champion.

Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva UFC 297 Prediction

Raquel Pennington (15-9-0)

In her 10-plus years of fighting under the UFC banner, Pennington has answered one call after another to take fights against the best women in the world. With wins over Miesha Tate, Irene Aldana, and Aspen Ladd, Pennington is one of the best condition fighters at Bantamweight and absolutely deserves this title shot. It doesn’t hurt she comes in on a five-fight win streak, as she’ll look to take the belt she likely feels is already hers.

Mayra Bueno Silva (10-2-1)

Joining the UFC in 2018 via DWCS, Bueno Silva has had a rather quick rise to this title shot. Coming into Saturday 5-2 in her time with the promotion, Bueno Silva has wins over Gillian Robertson, Mara Borella, and Stephanie Egger, each more convincing than the last. Coming into Saturday, she’s also riding a three-fight win streak, and if she can get this fight to the ground, has an excellent chance of making it four and earning herself the title.

Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva Pick

With 19 fights under the UFC banner, Pennington has seen just about everything when it comes to competition at the highest level. While Bueno Silva has the edge on the ground, I think Pennington’s striking can win her early rounds as she grinds out a decision win.
