5 minUFC 298: Robert Whittaker vs. Paulo Costa Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 298
In what will be the second UFC PPV event of the calendar year, one of the best cards in recent memory is on deck for Saturday night in Anaheim, CA. With bangers of fights from top to bottom, the night will be capped off with a featherweight title fight featuring Alexander Volkanovski and challenger Ilia Topuria.
Just before that main event, however, there is a co-main event flying under the radar that has fight-of-the-night potential. A pair of middleweight warriors will go at it as former champion Robert Whittaker takes on Paulo Costa.
Let’s take a closer look at where the odds have landed, both fighter's recent form, and who I like to walk away from this one victorious.

Robert Whittaker vs. Paulo Costa UFC 298 Prediction
Robert Whittaker (25-7-0)
Whittaker has been facing the best of the best in the middleweight division since joining the UFC all the way back in 2012. Picking up nine straight wins from 2014 to 2019, he ran into eventual champion Israel Adesanya, losing twice to him from 2019 to 2022. Getting back in the winner’s column in 2022 with a win over Marvin Vettori, he suffered a loss to current champ Dricus Du Plessis in July, his last time in the octagon.
Paulo Costa (14-2-0)
Once a promising prospect, Costa has faced one issue as another to stay active in the UFC, fighting just three times in the last three years, losing two of those bouts. The last time we saw him in the octagon was back in August of 2022, a decision win over an aging Rockhold. He’ll face his toughest test since a 2020 fight vs. Adesanya, a second-round loss via TKO.

Robert Whittaker vs. Paulo Costa Pick
In addition to having to deal with more than 500 days of ring rust, Costa will have to overcome one of the highest fight IQs in the division. He faces a different kind of challenge in this one that I don’t think he can overcome.
