Geoff Neal vs. Ian Garry Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 298

The wait for UFC 298 is nearly over, with a featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria at the top. Though there are great fights all over this weekend’s UFC 298 card in Anaheim, California, perhaps none is more personal than Geoff Neal vs. Ian Garry.

Originally supposed to fight in August, the fight was scrapped as both fighters went their separate ways following a bitter back and forth in the lead-up. After Garry had another fight scrapped a couple of months ago, he’ll finally get his shot at Neal on Saturday night.

Let’s take a closer look at both fighters, the odds heading into the weekend, and who I like to come out victorious.

Neal vs. Garry Date, Time, and Where to Watch

  • Date: Saturday, February 17, 2024
  • Time: 10:00 p.m. ET
  • Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, CA
  • Where to Watch: PPV

Geoff Neal vs. Ian Garry Odds

With this fight originally scheduled for the summer, this is one of the more mature odds markets on the entire UFC 298 card. When things re-opened between these two, Garry was listed as a -240 favorite with Neal coming in around +200. In the time since, Garry has swelled as high as -240, with Neal settling in around +190.

Geoff Neal vs. Ian Garry UFC 298 Prediction

Geoff Neal (14-5-0)

With a 7-3 record since joining the UFC, Neal comes into the week the #8 ranked man in the welterweight division and desperately needs a win here to stay on track for a future title shot. We last saw him at the end of 2023, taking Shavkat Rakhmonov deep as a heavy underdog before losing in the final minutes of the fight.

Ian Garry (13-0-0)

We last saw Garry in the octagon in his most impressive win to date, handling division gatekeeper Neil Magny with relative ease. He was supposed to fight Vicente Luque in December, before being forced to bow out with pneumonia from what was a contentious build-up to the fight for Garry. In also a must-win bout, Garry has the potential to take another big jump in the rankings with a win over Neal.

Geoff Neal vs. Ian Garry Pick

In addition to a seven-year age advantage, Garry has big edges in takedown accuracy (70%), as well as significant strikes landed per minute (28%).  The UFC sees its future in Garry, and I think we see another step towards that this weekend.
