When the odds market opened up for this one, Lopes was the notable favorite at -162, with Yusuff coming in closer to +140. Since then, the UFC veteran Yusuff has seen the love, pushing his number all the way down to +114 as of Wednesday.

Sodiq Yusuff (13-3-0)

Joining the UFC in 2018 via DWCS, the Maryland native Yusuff started out strong, picking up wins in his first four fights under the banner. Taking the then-undefeated Arnold Allen the distance in April 2021, Yusuff would go on to lose a unanimous decision in that one for his first loss with the UFC. Quickly, however, Yusuff got back to his winning ways, beating Alex Caceres and Don Shainis in his next two fights. 

Diego Lopes (23-6-0)

We first saw Lopes on DWCS in 2018, losing to Janderson Brito and failing to get a contract in the process. After bouncing around other promotions for a couple of years, Lopes got his shot to step in last minute to take on Movsar Evloev in May of last year. Despite losing a unanimous decision, he showed something brass liked, picking up his long-awaited contract. So far so good for the Brazilian, as he’s 2-0 in the UFC with two first-round finishes.

Despite losing the last time we saw him in the octagon, Yusuff showed me something against Barboza in his last fight which I think he builds on in this. Controlling that fight early, I expect Yusuff to pace himself in this one to grind out the victory.
