The last time we saw Smith was December, a third-round defeat to the heavy-hitting Khalil Rountree Jr. The loss was Smith’s fourth in the previous five fights, as the 35-year-old now takes on one of the hottest young fighters in his division, desperate to stop the slide.
Vitor Petrino (11-0-0)
A perfect 11-0 as a professional, Petrino joined the UFC in 2022 via the DWCS and has not been slowed down in the slightest. In his four fights under the banner, two have come inside the distance, and we most recently saw him dismantle Tyson Pedro over three rounds in March.
Anthony Smith vs. Vitor Petrino Pick
While Petrino has a lot of advantages in this fight, most notably in his eight-year age advantage, Smith is still fighting at the highest level and comes into this one as desperate as it gets. A loss here likely spells the end of main card PPV fights for Lionheart, and I think we see him lean on his experience to edge this one out.
With a slight advantage in significant striking, the gaps on the ground aren’t as wide as many would expect, and I think this fight will be closer than the market currently believes. Getting nearly 4/1 odds, I’m taking Smith in this one.
