In one of the biggest upsets in the history of the UFC, Strickland took the middleweight belt from Israel Adesanya last year to become champion for the first time in his career. His first title defense in January did not go as planned, however, as he lost in January to Dricus Du Plessis in a razor-thin decision.
Paulo Costa (14-3-0)
Coming in as the seventh-ranked middleweight in the promotion, Costa has lost three of his past four but a closer look shows they have all been against killers. Facing Marvin Vettori, Israel Adesanya, and Robert Whittaker, Costa lost all three but fought Whittaker and Adesanya to a close decision.
