International Fight Week is once again back in Las Vegas, Nevada, as T-Mobile Arena plays host to UFC 303 this weekend. While there are great fights still from top to bottom, the top of this card got turned upside down last week, as Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler got scrapped due to a toe injury to The Mac.
In its place, a light heavyweight title fight rematch is now scheduled, as current champion Alex Pereira takes on former champion Jiri Prochazka. Before we get there, however, there’s another light heavyweight fight that has future implications, as Anthony Smith takes on up-and-comer Roman Dolidze.

Anthony Smith (38-19-0)
Slotted in as another last-minute bout for Saturday’s UFC 303 card, Anthony Smith will take on Roman Dolidze in a pivotal matchup for the light heavyweight division. Not long ago, many thought Smith was on his way out of the promotion with father time not ion his side, but a first-round win over Vitor Petrino quieted those feats.
Roman Dolidze (12-3-0)
As for Dolidze, who is also 35 but has way less wear than the veteran Smith, he joined the middleweight division in 2023 on a four-fight win streak before dropping two fights to Marvin Vettori and Nassouridine Imavov in the time since; both of which came at middleweight. In light heavyweight, however, he’s won seven straight.

Going back to his professional debut in 2016 (at heavyweight), Doldize has yet to drop a professional fight when fighting at light heavyweight, and I don’t think that changes here. Relatively even on the feet, I think we see Dolidze’s advantage on the ground shine through this one, he averages 3x the takedowns and nearly double the takedown accuracy.
