The UFC returns to the United Kingdom this weekend, this time for an exhilarating UFC 304 card that features bangers from start to finish. In the co-main event, the interim heavyweight belt will be on the line for the second time, as Tom Aspinall defends it against Curtis Blaydes, who will be fighting for his long-awaited first title shot. 

In the main event, however, an undisputed belt will be on the line, as Leon Edwards defends his belt in a fight against Belal Muhammad, the second time the two will meet. Let’s take a closer look at both fighters and how I see this one going.

Leon Edwards (22-3-0)

Always the bridesmaid and never the bride, Edwards finally got his flowers in a 2022 knockout win over then-champion Kamaru Usman to clinch the welterweight belt. Propelling him to superstardom as just the second-ever English champion, Edwards quickly fought Usman again six months later, once again winning, to cement himself as the welterweight champion. In his only title defense since, Edwards put on a clinic for five rounds, beating Colby Covington in five rounds. 

Belal Muhammad (23-3-0)

Often described as a boring fighter, Muhammad has done what was required of him for the majority of his career, coming into this fight with just one loss since 2016. Coming into this fight, Muhammad is on the heels of a nine-fight winning streak, which even includes a fight against Edwards. First fighting in 2021, the fight was ruled a no contest following an accidental eye poke from Edwards that caused the fight to be called in the second round.

While both fighters have been doubted their whole career, Muhamad has long been passed over for this title shot and I think his time has finally come; at exactly the right time. While Edwards put on an impressive performance against Covington, he’s yet to face a fighter as strong as Belal on the ground. Having this one close to even, I’ll gladly take the more than 2/1 price currently being offered on Muhammad.
