UFC 305: Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 305

For the third time in the UFC’s history, the company returns to Perth, Australia, this time with arguably their best lineup in the country’s history. While the main event, rightfully so, is getting all the attention as Israel Adesanya looks to get back his title from current champ Dricus du Plessis, the co-main event is what I’m most interested in.

In the co-man slot, a pair of flyweights Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg will go at it with a shot at the flyweight strap on the line. Pitting two of the country’s best against one another, let’s take a closer look at the co-main event of the evening between two of the best 125-pounders on the planet.

Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg UFC 305 Prediction

Kai Kara-France (24-11-0)

Since joining the UFC in 2019, Kara-France has gone 7-4 under the UFC banner, instantly finding success as a last-minute replacement against Elias Garcia. Picking up a win that fight via decision, in addition to a “Fight of the Night” bonus, Kara-France would go on to win his next two before running into a future champion in Brandon Moreno. Losing that fight via decision, Kara-France would go 11-1 over his next two fights, propelling himself to the #2 spot in the flyweight division.

Steve Erceg (12-2-0)

With just four UFC fights to his name, and joining the UFC in June 2023, Erceg has made quick work of his chances since then. Picking up a “Performance of the Night” bonus in his debut fight against David Dvorak, a decision win, Erceg immediately was placed inside the top 15, picking up another win this time over Alessandro Costa. A win over Matt Schnell in his next fight earned another win and bonus, propelling him to a title shot against Pantoja in May 2024. Despite losing that fight, via decision, Erceg cemented himself as a real contender at flyweight.

Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg Pick

This number is skewed, in my opinion, from his decision loss to Amir Albazi in June of 2023, and he has not fought since. Since opening up at +172, the market has largely been in agreement, and I don’t think it has come down enough. I’m taking Kara-France in this spot in my favorite play of the night.
