5 minUFC 305: Mateusz Gamrot vs. Dan Hooker Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 305
The UFC heads back Down Under this Saturday for the third-ever card in Perth, Australia, as UFC 305 features a star-studded lineup. At the top, a pair of middleweight champions will go at it for the undisputed belt, as Israel Adesanya takes on current champ Israel Adesanya. With great fights from top to bottom, one I have my eye on closely is a lightweight matchup that is the third fight on the main card.
Currently ranked fifth in the lightweight rankings, Mateusz Gamrot will take on 11th Dan Hooker, with the winner on the path to a title shot in one of the most crowded divisions in the promotion. Let’s take a closer look at this lightweight clash, and who I like to get this one done.

Mateusz Gamrot vs. Dan Hooker UFC 305 Prediction
Mateusz Gamrot (24-2-0)
Since joining the UFC in 2020, the former KSW lightweight champion has quickly ascended the rankings. Since a loss in his first fight with the UFC, as a last-minute replacement, Gamrot has picked up wins over Scott Holtzman, Jeremy Stephens, Carlos Diego Ferreira, Arman Tsarukyan, and most recently, Rafael dos Anjos to set up this fight against a UFC legend.
Dan Hooker (23-12-0)
Fight under the UFC banner since 2013, Hooker has been up and down in his stint thus far, going 13-8 in the time since, overcoming a 2-3 start to become a household name with the company. Moving to lightweight nearly eight years ago, Hooker's longest win streak in the UFC has been four, picking up wins against Gilbert Burns and Jim Miller during that run. At his peak, Hooker reached the #5 spot in the division, meeting Dustin Poirier who he would lose to in a five-round decision. Since then, he’s been the model of inconsistency, going 3-3 since that 2020 fight.
Mateusz Gamrot vs. Dan Hooker Pick
While Hooker has been far from consistent with results since that Poirier loss, a closer look shows a murder’s row having lost to Arnold Allen, Michael Chandler, and current champ Islam Makhachev. Though the younger and more skilled Gamrot is deserved to be the favorite, I think Hooker can keep this closer than many expect, and will gladly take these odds.
