Oregon Coaching Search: Will the Ducks Bring Back Chip Kelly?

Nostalgia is one of the best things in life. Reminiscing about better times is a ton of fun when you’re not exactly happy with where things are. That’s exactly what the Oregon Ducks fans are doing right now.

For the past five years, Mario Cristobal was the coach for the Ducks. In five seasons there he was pretty solid going 35-13 with wins in the Redbox Bowl and the Rose Bowl in 2019. Well, it was announced that he’d be leaving Oregon for Miami which now opens a coaching vacancy for Oregon.

Some fans have taken to Twitter to ask for Chip Kelly back.

Chip Kelly and the Ducks were a match made in heaven. Those Oregon teams were fun as they went an impressive 46-7. Marcus Mariota and Chip Kelly were a college offense spectacle and it lead them to a BCS Championship appearance, and a Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl win.

In fact, his success in college landed him a job in the NFL with the Eagles and then another one with San Francisco in the 2016 season.

He’s back in the college game now where he’s been at UCLA for four seasons and finally, UCLA looks to be turning a corner as they went 8-4, their first winning season under Kelly so far in four years.

My warning to Oregon, be careful what you wish for. Sometimes it’s better to leave things in the past, no need for tainted memories on something you loved. Just ask any of the TV reboots in the past couple of years how they feel about trying to rekindle that magic.
