NFC East Odds
Philadelphia Eagles (-200) (Bet $200 to win $100)
Convincing wins against the upstart Lions and offensively-friendly Minnesota Vikings have the Eagles flying high to start the season. They look unstoppable on offense and have enough defensive pieces to keep teams off the scoreboard when they need a stop. Only one team in the NFC has scored more points than the Eagles as they now possess one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the game.
The driving force of this hot start for Philadelphia has to be Jalen Hurts. He is now up to +1100 odds to win the NFL MVP after two fantastic performances including 147 rushing yards and three rushing scores. He is such a dangerous weapon around the goal line and with the addition of A.J. Brown to a strong running back room, this team looks poised to not only win their division but make a long playoff run.
Dallas Cowboys (+550) (Bet $100 to win $550)
The Cowboys deserve an immense amount of credit for not falling on their face after they lost franchise quarterback Dak Prescott to injury. Dallas was able to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in dramatic fashion in Week 2 to prevent a dangerous 0-2 start to the season. Their defense still looks absolutely legit with linebacker Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs anchoring that side of the ball. But the offense is going to have to take a massive leap to take this division.
Only the Indianapolis Colts, who were shut out on Sunday, have scored fewer points than the Cowboys this season. They have played two top-tier defenses, but it is clear that Dallas must find a way to get CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott, and Tony Pollard going if they want to have sustained success in a tough NFC. Getting Michael Gallup back soon will also help, as will the return of Prescott in a few weeks.
New York Giants (+550) (Bet $100 to win $550)
There are many in NFL circles who believe that the Giants are the luckiest 2-0 team in the league to start the year. Their wins have come against the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers, both team who look absolutely lost to start the season. And New York beat those teams by a combined four points. Saquon Barkley looks healthy again and is back to being the Swiss Army knife in the Giant's offense. But that is masking what is a truly glaring issue: their wide receiver corps.
Prized acquisition from two years ago Kenny Golladay played just two snaps on Sunday. Kadarious Toney and rookie Wan'Dale Robinson are hurt. Washed up players like Richie James and Sterling Shepard are leading the team in receiving, but neither has more than 110 total yards over their two games. Asking this group of wide receivers to produce at a high level with Daniel Jones as their quarterback is a tall task. This team is more likely to go on a losing streak than keep up this perfect record. Three of their next four games are against the Cowboys, Packers, and Ravens.
Washington Commanders (+1000) (Bet $100 to win $1000)
After a couple of seasons struggling with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts, quarterback Carson Wentz seems to have found the fountain of youth in Washington. He has thrown for 650 yards and seven touchdowns in his two games, top two in the NFL in both categories. What was thought to be a suspect wide receiver group of Curtis Samuel, Jahan Dotson, and Terry McLaurin looks like a real strength so far.
While the Commanders have struggled on defense, help is on the way soon as well. Chase Young, their star defensive lineman who tore his ACL last year, should return by mid-season, and the former defensive rookie of the year can help provide more pressure to opposing quarterbacks. I can't say I like this team more than the Eagles to win the division, but a playoff bet for the Commanders is a smart move.
Proudest husband and dad you will ever find. When I'm not with my wife and two kids I split my time working in higher ed, grinding DFS and season-long, collecting silver age comics, studying behavioral economics, and drinking coffee. I once played Pat Connaughton in an actual NBA DFS lineup for money. Astros, Rockets, and Texans for life.
